Transport for New Homes will be publishing a State of the Nation report based on surveys of new housing developments in England. We will find out if there are good places to live for those who don’t want to drive, can’t drive or can’t afford the expense associated with buying and running a car.
We are calling for volunteers to visit sites around England as part of the fieldwork for the research. This is open to anyone, but might interest planning students or those campaigning for public transport, walking and cycling.
By helping with our site visits you will be contributing to a valuable shared knowledge-base of observations, descriptions and photographic records of what is being built. The final report will provide recommendations for best practice.
Can I have some more details?
- We have housing sites to visit all over England
- You will need a smartphone or digital camera to take some photographs
- We will provide a questionnaire to guide your visit
- We will pay travel expenses for up to two people for each site visit (funding kindly provided by the Foundation for Integrated Transport)
Update 27/11/2023: Our visits will resume in 2024. We are looking in particular for volunteers in the Midlands and the North of England for the next wave of visits.
