About the event: Learn about guidance developed for local authorities and local campaigners on parking policies which are key to reviving town centres, bringing back our buses, protecting countryside – and even contributing to solving the housing crisis. The webinar will talk through examples of successful policies being implemented around England. We will talk through guidance and resources we’ve created (collated here and downloadable guidance Car-parking policies to eliminate urban sprawl and revive buses June 2025). The guidance centres around and gives examples of (a) Redeploying urban car parks to accommodate housing or mixed-used development (b) Zero-car or ‘car-lite’ development Local Plan policies (i.e. setting strong parking maximums in new development) (c) wider supporting policies needed to ensure successful delivery of transport and local plan objectives.
