Planning reform is coming
The Government has launched proposals to reform the planning system, aiming to get more houses built. We support the aim, but are concerned that yet again transport is almost wholly missing from the proposals.
As our research has shown, the location of new housing developments and how they are designed dictates how people travel to them and around in them. Getting this wrong is a recipe for increased traffic congestion, long commuting and other journeys and increased pollution, and will also run against the need to tackle climate change and isolated living.
