The government set up a New Towns Taskforce in 2024 to begin work on finding sites for prospective new towns in England.

Report to government, recommends 12 sites for new towns:

• Adlington, Cheshire East
• Brabazon and the West Innovation Arc
• Chase Park and Crews Hill in Enfield
• Heyford Park in Cherwell
• Leeds South Bank 
• Manchester, Victoria North
• Marlcombe, East Devon
• Milton Keynes
• Plymouth
• Tempsford
• Thamesmead, Greenwich
• Worcestershire Parkway, Wychavon

Initial Government response, welcomes all twelve with three particularly promising:

• Leeds South Bank 
• Tempsford
• Thamesmead, Greenwich
